AI is here.  If you have not used it knowingly, you have interacted with it already.  AI may be the best educational tool to ever hit the Earth.  Can you tell I am a fan?  AI for writing makes it easy for children to explore things as they desire.  By the time your children “graduate” AI will be pervasive.  Sometimes you will see it, sometimes you won’t.  AI is a lot like magic.  When a magician performs a trick, that’s magic.  When a magician tells you the secret to the trick, the magic is gone.  Learn to use AI now and teach your children.  

Let’s say your child wants to be a fireman.  If you ask “Help me write” (Lab) “what does a fireman do?”, you will get this.

Firemen, also known as firefighters, are trained professionals who are responsible for responding to fires and other emergencies. They are trained in fire suppression, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials handling. Firemen also provide public education and prevention programs.

Here are some of the specific duties of a fireman:

• Respond to fires and other emergencies

• Extinguish fires

• Provide emergency medical services

• Rescue people from dangerous situations

• Inspect buildings for fire hazards

• Conduct public education and prevention programs

• Maintain fire equipment and vehicles

• Train new firefighters

Firemen are essential members of our community. They put their lives on the line every day to protect us from harm. We are grateful for their service.

Would you have been able to give a better answer?  Let’s say your child can’t read or write yet.  Operating systems (Windows or Linux) have software that will allow you to speak to the computer and have it perform tasks (e.g.-“open Word”) and you can have your computer read documents.  Not as refined as on Star Trek or Star Wars, but it is available today.

The really good news in computing is that it has become easy to learn how to do things on computers.  Got a smartphone?  It’s a computer and you learned how to use many features on it without human help.  You can learn.  You can teach your children.  Your children will begin to teach themselves.  Heck!  For most things today you only need a browser and any browser will do.  Find one you like and customize to your liking.  

As AI continues maturing it will be integral to business.  Businesses will mold AI to make their processes and customer service  better.  As IoT (the Internet of Things) continues to blossom, what you can ask about your environment broadens.  The best feature of IoT is the historical data that becomes available overtime.  It’s all around you.  Learn about it.  Stop watching TV and movies.  There is too much to learn about!
